Craft Obsessed
You need to know: If there is an extra step to be taken in making the highest quality leather goods, we're taking it.
Each piece has been imagined and designed in house, then brought to life by a sole set of hands. From hide selection, to pattern placement and that first, very precise cut, to diligently (painstakingly) finishing edges to perfection, then hours upon hours of saddle stitching by hand. We are proud to offer work that is, above all else, honest.
A Philosophy of Generosity
At KR Studio generosity is the ethos. This extends to the time spent on each piece, the depth of craftsmanship applied, and the thoughtfulness that goes into each customer interaction. Our offerings deliver exceptionally unique and high quality goods to the people who appreciate them.
In return, we honor the generosity of our clients: their support, their investment, and their trust in bringing a piece of our work into their lives.
ORIGINS
"KYLIE RAQUEL GET YOUR ASS OFF THAT HORSE!!!!"
I was seven years old the first time I heard my mom swear.
Flash forward and present day my son is nearly the age I was, when I would rip across the neighbors pasture, bridleless and bareback on a salty farm mare, rushing back to the alfalfa I had determinedly drug her away from, by the mane. It scared the cuss out of my characteristically loving and docile mother, who caught a glimpse of the action from our home across the road.
Horses and art were the only things I cared about during my formative years. It took a long time to figure out what my medium was and how to make a life out of it, but clearly, my first love of the hoofed kind has heavily influenced my current creative trade.
In 2016 I was living on the coast in a vintage Airstream and commuting to my tech job in the city. Life was stable and I had an abundant career to be proud of, however it wasn't enough. I had always felt pulled to something more creative and autonomous, and began despising having to check out of my dreamy beach life to clock in and work for someone else. I stumbled upon leather craft and was instantly consumed with ideas and a vision. I made my first bag that fall, then left my job the following spring to pursue it full time.
I'm leaving out a lot of details, but the rest is history. Today I'm a mother above all else, nonetheless still a wild kid who loves to play outside and gets to make art for a living.
